Tickets: £10 /£7

Failed System Test is Sonia Killman + Aidan Lochrin. Using saxophone, bass and electronics, Failed System Test create live, ambient soundscapes, drawing from electronica, environmental field recordings, jazz & noisy, ever-evolving drones. Their music is structured around existing frameworks of improvisation, ensuring a unique sound with every performance. They have performed at various venues across Glasgow, including a sold out show at Tramway alongside Cucina Povera, as part of Sonica 2022 and The Glad Cafe supporting Montreal’s Jason Sharp. To date, Failed System Test have released 2 EP’s, as well as several standalone sets, including 2020’s {unshift} on independent label Dead Hound Record’s and are featured on Blackford Hill Audio’s ‘Peace and Plenty’ compilation.

Long Green Jaws is a duo of artist/musicians, Sarah McWhinney and Fergus Hall, creating sounds and light projections inspired by coastal ecologies and ocean folklore. Our music combines textural sounds of water (plops, sloshes, gurgles and drones) with acoustic cello, fiddle, vocals and live electronic processing. Our upcoming 2023 show, Into the Long Green Jaws is currently in development with support from Taigh Chearsabhagh, Puppet Animation Scotland and Creative Scotland.

Instruction Manual are Ollie Hawker and Scott Morrison, a Glasgow-based duo who use a mixture of live instruments and electronic manipulation to explore how it feels to feel in the age of digital mediation. Previous projects have included a collaboration with performance artist Monster Chetwynd at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, an audiovisual meditation based on a single line from a 2005 Owen Wilson interview (nominated for a 2021 Scottish New Music Award), and a collaborative audiovisual installation with artist Rosa Sawyers focused on Scottish traditional tunes set to be premiered next year. This will be their first live gig in almost three years, so expect to see the first glimpses of their newest project! Using text-to-speech and text-to-song software to perform both original compositions and music from Scottish and American folk traditions, Instruction Manual’s performances blur the lines between comedy and tragedy, irony and sincerity, banality and profundity.
